Club Picnic Meeting • Oct. 16, 2004
Home of Charles & Kim de Bourbon
Delaware Water Gap, Pa.

The last club picnic meeting of the year was held Oct. 16 at the home of Charles and Kim de Bourbon in Delaware Water Gap. The weather was pretty decent for a mid-October day, and Dick and Louise Horn even arrived with the top down!

No one else was that brave, although there was a nice assortment of little British cars on the lawn . . . plus a few trucks and SUVs!  Dennis Silance arrived in his newly restored silver 1968 MGB GT, which was featured in the October newsletter. Another car that got a lot of attention was Don Lawson’s beautiful 1949 MG TC, which he drove over from his shop, Northeastern Classics in East Stroudsburg.

Featured food was an authentic British shepherd’s pie, provided by Union Jack’s Cafe in nearby Portland. There was a bit of confusion when Kim took the foil off the top, because her friend Stef, the English chef, had written what looked like “5W” on top of the large “pie” in a clever squiggle of mashed potatoes.  Just as she was wondering if that was a Castrol oil reference, clever Ken Beck suggested we turn it around . . . Actually, it said "MG!"

We also welcomed new members Keith and Terri Wolfe of Vera Cruz, who were invited to the picnic meeting by Ken and Cindy Beck.  Ken is in the process of “straightening out” the engine on Terri’s 1975 MGB, which she just bought in June. Terri is eager to learn all about her new little car, which she calls “Lonnie.”
