Union Jack's rally/meeting

July 10, 2004

The Keystone Region MG Club met at Union Jack's Inn on the Manatawny in Pleasantville, Pa., after an informal rally through the back roads of Berks County.  We had a good turnout of 14 MGs for the event: one MG-TC, two MGAs, three Midgets and nine MGBs, plus two "other" cars,  Robert Van Syckle planned the day, and led the way in his 1947 MG-TC, starting in Hereford and winding over and around some nice hilly roads through the Oley Valley to Pleasantville. The weather was perfect, and all 14 MGs were driven top-down.

We drew lots of smiles and waves from people outside their homes along the way, and managed to even stay together, once we got off the main road.  We passed some stunning historic churches, lots of fields of corn higher than our cars, and crossed two covered bridges before arriving at our destination, a charming tavern with an English taxi out front that offered a large choice of exotic beers and good food.
