11th Annual British Motorcar Gathering • June 13, 2004
Hellertown Reservoir Park, Hellertown, Pa.

ANOTHER GOOD YEAR IN HELLERTOWN

By Mike Jones
2004 Show Chairman

The Keystone Region MG Club sponsored another great automobile show on June 13, 2004. We had more than 180 registrations for our 11th Annual British Motorcar Gathering. Only a few pre-registered cars did not make it to the show.  The weather was just about perfect. (I would have liked a little more sun.) We seem to luck-out with the weather for this show, as June can be rather wet.

I can’t list the names of everyone who helps with the show, as I would be certain to miss someone, but suffice it to say that it would be lengthy. So many aspects of the show are expertly handled by so many different members that it is hard to imagine how well everything comes together. This year we had a bonus of a great selection of new clothing embroidered with our club logo at the regalia table. We also had a participant auto photographer, Showtime Photo.  I believed this was a nice addition to the group of vendors. I don’t know well he did, but I bought the photo of my MG-TD.

I did manage to talk to some of the participants, and received only positive comments. I always get comments about the great setting, the great music, the awards and the good food. As participants are leaving the field, many of them say “Great show, see you again next year!” I, personally, was touched by Van’s selection of Ray Charles’ rendition of “America the Beautiful” just before the award announcements.

I look forward to next year when we work with Dick Horn as show chairman. There is always room for new ideas in any endeavor, and if we put our thoughts together we can come up with an even better show. As for me, I loved every minute of that day and everything about the show.
