2006 Keystone Region MG Safety/Tech Session

The Keystone Region MG Club held a safety/tech session on Sunday, April 30, to give club members a chance to get their cars up on a lift and have them checked out underneath. The event was hosted by classic British car buff Bob Messinger at his UniTech Industries in Palmerton.

Club technical adviser Ken Beck and vice president Ed Haas teamed up to give our cars the once-over from underneath, with an emphasis on the steering and suspension systems, universal joints, potential structural rust problems, and – of course – fluid leaks of any kind.

Seven cars were inspected: Marty Chamberlain's 1952 MGTD, Dick Horn's 1960 MGA, and five MGBs: Fred Duckloe's 1967, Gerry Kunkle's 1971, Ken Beck's 1974, Bill Webb's 1975½, and Ed Haas's 1975.

Everyone had a good time taking a look under all the cars, and learning about the trouble spots and potential problems on each.

After we were done looking at cars, Bob Messinger gave us a demonstration of the UniMove vacuum tube lifting systems his company makes. This is a clever system that lets production line employees at any company pick up and move heavy products with very little effort.

The Keystone Region MG Club, Inc., is incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers to promote interest in and help foster the preservation of MGs and other British motor cars.
